Characters: Nick, Tom, Myrtle and other women

Setting: Tom and Myrtle’s apartment rented for their affairs.

The Problem: Tom feels Myrtle has not right to say Daisy’s name.

Events: Myrtle and Tom are talking in the middle of a party, about whether Myrtle has the right to say Daisy’s name. When Myrtle gets upset she proclaims Daisy;s name and saying: “I’ll say it whenever I want to!” Just then Tom strikes Myrtle braking her nose open handily.

Resolution: Myrtle gets help from some other women at the party, while others pretend nothing happened.
